The Project Handout can be found here.
Today's Tasks:
- Create a new title for your short story that represents the THEME of the story. Do not be literal in your story naming. For example, "The Evening of the Storm," is not an acceptable re-naming of "The Night of the Twister." Create several names and choose the best one.
- Look at the Book Cover Archive site for inspiration from professionals who design book covers.
- Brainstorm images and symbols that reflect the THEME of the story. Again, do not be literal. An image of an inmate with a gun does not reflect the theme of "The Night of the Twister," but rather represents the plot. Make a list of several images or symbols to find.
- Start to collect images from Pic4Learning and CreativeCommons and save them to your Home Drive or Google Drive. Do not leave them in your Downloads folder as these will be deleted when you log off.
- Using Google Drawings (you will need a gmail account for this) create your 8.5 x 11 project using images and text that reflect your theme choices. Use multiple images to represent your theme as you see fit.
- Adjust the Page size by clicking File: Page Setup and fill the boxes as 8.5 x 11 inches
- Save your Book Cover as a PDF by clicking File - Download As - PDF Document
- Write your explication using the instructions found on the Project Handout in Word or another word processing program like Google Docs.
- Print your finished Book Cover using colour ink in the library or at home.
